Happy Spring Inklings!
Spring is blooming, the bluebonnets are standing tall, and Texas is finally green again after several bad storms (we have more in the forecast for this weekend). Now there is plenty of shade for me to enjoy as I lounge in my hammock and reflect, refresh myself, and dream up new story worlds!
This has been a busy week, celebrating Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread with my friends and family. This is one of my favorite seasons of remembering Elohim’s deliverance, cleansing of my heart, and the courage to step into new beginnings.
If you are observing the Spring feasts, I hope you find peace, purpose and a deeper walk with the One who calls us out of Egypt and into freedom!
Reflections
This month, I’ve been thinking about my experience with NaNoWriMo. It’s a program, that I, like so many others, have mixed feelings about. I am both thankful and saddened. I joined the challenge early on, completing or surpassing the 50k mark three times, and using it to push myself to finish both Scraps of Love and The Shaloma. Altogether I wrote 392,829 beautiful words across 14 projects.
When NaNoWriMo began, our writing community looked very different, and the program helped shape the way we as writers connect today. For that I am grateful. Even as we learned of the program’s closure, and took life lessons from the controversies, I hope we don’t just remember the scandals. I hope we also remember the good it brought, the community we gained, and take the lessons learned so we can support one another in healthier, wiser spaces.
